that budapest lies in a deep water where crowds
take it back clouds are marching from the hills of prussian
blue where the demos of mist are breaking down
throwing away their banners their white placards
that budapest's a basin full of heavy water
and foam after great washing that submerges and mingles
the crumpled buses as I clumsily change them
like the old socks one with a hole in it
that when my head lifts over the grey surface
and looks around for the first time since forever
my eyes follow the path where city lights have trodden
my eyes keep on connecting black dots left behind
that there was a poet who left his home for what else
could he leave not the city under the river danube
with fish shoals over the skyline and later he let himself
to be found without the interference of a third party
and that there is a person who remembers his table
who knows his place his street and all the watery
sparkles above he comes there he sits down
opens a book and gently lifts from it the towering
oh not the mountains please take it back but the flimsy
